  • The Medical Head leaves

    On this date, Univ.-Prof. Richard Greil is leaving the TKFI, and Reinhard Kofler is taking over his duties.

  • Open House Day

    During an Open House event, the TKFI was presented to the public by Surgeon Reimund Margreiter, HR Hubert Kuprian (“HR” stands for “Hofrat”, which is an Austrian title to honor civil service and can roughly be translated to “councilor”) and Dr. Andreas Braun. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., anyone who was interested gained a deeper insight into the work of the TKFI laboratories.

  • Scientific and Medical Head

    In April 2000, Prof. Reinhard Kofler was appointed as the scientific head and Prof. Richard Greil as the respective medical head of the TKFI.

  • Commissioning of the TKFI

    After extensive renovation work in the early months of 2000, the TKFI at Innrain 66, 6020 Innsbruck, was put into operation. The institute was founded on the initiative of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Raimund Margreiter, former President of Österreichische Krebshilfe Tirol. It was established with funding from Österreichische Krebshilfe Tirol, Österreichische Krebshilfe, and Tiroler Landeskrankenanstalten GesmbH, along with donations from the Tyrolean industry and population. The goal of the TKFI is cancer research with a direct link to clinical application.

  • Public presentation of the Tyrolean Cancer Research Institute/Tiroler Krebsforschungsinstitut (TKFI)

    Univ.-Prof. Raimund Margreiter, Hofrat Hubert Kuprian, and Dr. Andreas Braun presented the idea of the TKFI to the public as the initiators.

  • Foundation of the association “Verein zur Förderung der Krebsforschung in Tirol”

    Thanks to the initiative of Univ.-Prof. Raimund Margreiter and Hofrat Hubert Kuprian, the charity association ‘Verein zur Förderung der Krebsforschung in Tirol’ was founded in 1999 and officially registered from that date forward. Raimund Margreiter was appointed as the chairman of the association.

  • The TKFI gets a new chairman

    Prof. Dietmar Öfner-Velano has taken over as the chairman of the ‘Verein zur Förderung der Krebsforschung in Tirol’, succeeding Emeritus Professor Raimund Margreiter, who has been appointed as the deputy chairman.

  • New Scientific Head

    Prof. Dr. Andreas Villunger has replaced Univ.-Prof. Reinhard Kofler as the scientific head.

  • Goodbye to Reimund Margreiter

    Univ-Prof. Raimund Margreiter was given a ceremonial farewell at the Dogana in Innsbruck after more than 40 years of service to research, patients and students. He will continue to serve as the chairman of the association.
